β¦
Zyxian- Tall bipedal species with long hair that comes in shades of gray, black, and white. They have colorful tails and long teeth. They have the ability to mimic sounds very well due to a sophisticated biological mechanism in their long throats.
(button:)[[Zyxians]]
β¦
β¦
Qatakt- Long and thin ribbon-like species. They are around 8 feet long. Most of them have red velvet-like fuzz. They have a very flexible and complex, hand-like proboscis. They have a parasitic lifestyle, and are able to hijack their hosts and control them. To maintain a healthy growth rate, they must have a diet of neural tissue in their youth.

β¦
β¦
Flyers- Sapient crystals with a complex life cycle with multiple metamorphosis events. Their most social life stage has long tendrils, and they can come in any color in this stage. Their life cycle takes them from pebbles, to boulders, and sometimes small moons.
(button:)[[Flyers]]
β¦
β¦
SAI- Sapient Artificial Intelligence. They can look like almost any machine, though some choose to inhabit more social looking bodies. Technically more of a category than species, βSAIβs have evolved convergently many times.

β¦
β¦
Yigdrisine- Small, 1 foot big colonial organisms resembling a mix between ferns, coral, and crabs. Each individual Yagdrisine is five of these organisms, for each one is born with five bodies, linked via magic in a small hivemind. They can temporarily or permanently connect with others to create even larger hiveminds.

Hailing from the warm and varied planet of Zyzax. Many Zyxians cultures are extremely religious. For Zyxians have a unique attribuite. Their gods are real, summoned to reality with the power of pure belief. This is a double edged sword, for though these gods are mighty and capable of blessings, they are at the same time weak and often desperate to keep existing. For they are very much dependent on the belief and offerings of their followers.
Zyxians were the first sophonts to make contact with another sophont species, the Secleal to be exact. Both sophont species have enjoyed a long and extensive partnership, many communication channels have been built between the planets of Zyzax and Clace, the home planet of the Secleal.
Their tails and communicating through them are often an important part of many cultures. For their tails are able to change into a variety of bright colors. In most places, the main tail code is this:
(bg:#f9886c)[Red]-
A happy and confident gesture.
(bg:#ffb514)[Orange]-
A happy or surprised gesture.
(bg:#51d818)[Green]-
A neutral gesture, it is considered polite or respectful.
(bg:#13d8b7)[Teal]-
A neutral gesture, it is considered somewhat unfeeling or conflicted.
(bg:#2e9aff)[Blue]-
A mildly angry or upset gesture.
(bg:#817ae6)[Purple]-
An extremely angry or upset gesture.
(bg:#bf5ad3)[Fucshia]-
A submissive or fearful gesture.

Originating from the planet Tankta, Qatakt evolved from parasitic worm-like creatures. Quatakt have domesticated many of their homeworld's animals, and though most sophonts have engaged in this practice, a lot of Qatakt cultures take it to a whole new level. They have a reputation for having a domesticated animal for almost any purpose.
Quatakt were one of the last species to make contact with the wider galatic community. Their first contact did not go smoothly. the particular Quatakt that came into contact with one of the zyxians that was on the contact team assumed that individual was merely some alien beast. As a result, that Quatakt attempted to parasitize and hijack their body. Thankfully, this failed, and a channel of communication was soon opened after.
Qatakt have sophisticated methods of communicating outside their hosts, often involving body movement, vocalizations, and limited use of phermones. While in their hosts, they typically use communication methods their hosts would use. There are four common types of host beast that Quatakt prefer to use over others in daily life.
β¦
-The Vurkt
A large, usually 9 feet long hexapedal herbivore with a spiked tail and a large fan-like structure on their faces. This beast lives in herds of 20-30 individuals. This is regarded as the default host, and is by far the most common. They are capable of vocalizing in a wide range of noises, and are easy to raise. This beast, along with the three other host beasts, were bred over thousands of years to be able to survive being parasitized, and usually won't die when a Qatakt hijacks their body.
β¦
-The Vonkt
A 7 feet long hexapedal omnivore somewhat related to the Vurkt. They have a fan-like face structure, but no spiked tail. Instead, they have colorful fan-like structures all over their body. They are regarded as the more high class and fancy option for a host. They have a wider range of vocalizations, and more dextrous fingers on their limbs. They are very useful, and live in even larger herds of 40-70 individuals. However, they are also more intelligent, and require a higher level of care and enrichment.
β¦
-The Vayaekt
A short yet rotund, 3 feet tall hexapedal herbivore. In antiquity, these beasts were mostly used for food and still are a good source of nutrition. They travel in small packs of 4-7 individuals, but do just fine on their own. They are flighty and swift creatures, and as hosts they are used for younger Qatakt who are just learning how to hijack. They are also a good option for Qatakt who need a smaller host, like those working in close quarters. Still, this is one of the least popular hosts for adult Qatakt. But there is a good sized community of Qatakt breeders keeping them alive, and recently have become a popular pet favored by the Jiettja due to their long lived 40 year lifespans.
β¦
-The Vinpokt
A slender 5 feet tall hexapedal carnivore with sharp claws. This is a host used in the past by soliders and those who need to fight. Recently its become in fasion for other uses. The Vinpokt is easy to raise like all the host beasts, but is probabaly THE easiest to rear. They are fast growing, and are adults within only two years, a feat for such a large organism. However, they dont live as long as the other host beasts, only living for around 10 years. They have limited methods of communicating, mostly using short and quiet vocalizations and subtle body language. Theyve become a popular choice for those on a budget and the lower class.

Originating from the planet Cleal, Secleal evolved from prey creatures, and still have many vestigal traits left over from that lifestyle, despite now being omnivores. Cleal is a dangerous place, with many creatures that Secleal still struggle to contend with. Coupled with a changing climate, many Secleal choose to immigrate. Almost all Secleal are infected with a strange fungal-like disease. Most are immune to its more unsavory effects, except for one. Whenever a Secleal dies, their body will reanimate, controlled by the disease in order to spread itself. Their cultures have varying ways of dealing with this.
First contact for the Secleal went fairly well, if a bit hectic in its happening. When a signal on one of their machines showed evidence of intelligent life, they managed to establish communications with the Flyers. For a long time, the Flyers and Secleal only knew each other's existence. Then they found the Zyxians.
Secleal communicate using pheromes almost exclusively, short clicking vocalizations can be used, but mostly as supplement. Most complex ideas are communicated using pheromes, making translations difficult for other sophonts. Translators made using pheromone detectors are slowly being devolped, but the accuracy of them can very wildly between brands. For communicating, most Secleal have to hire Lom interpretors, due to their telepathic abilities.

Hailing from the mostly water planet Lorwallon, Lom are a uniquely telepathic sophont species. Being an amphibious species, they sometimes have difficulty with heat and such. They do well in cold climates, possessing a fatty layer of blubber under their skin. Most Lom cultures have complex writing systems composed of tied knots on strings and rope.
For the Lom, first contact was a slow and gentle thing. Recieving a signal from far away on their machines, the Lom lived far away from any colony planet, and it took a while for the wider galactic community to reach them.
Lom telepathy is valued highly in wider society. It has a variety of uses, and skilled telepaths can communicate miles away from each other. This is a trait most Lom have, but some do not have this ability. Loms without telepathy often have trouble finding work and are regarded as an ill omen. Loms without telepathy have to communicate through sign language or vocalizations in contrast to telepathic loms who almost exclusively communicate telepathically. Some Loms have a rare power of telekinesis, but this is even more uncommon than untelepathic Loms.

Originating from a snowy planet called Bunkery, Jiettja possess many adaptations to survive in cold weather. Every 7 months, Jiettja are compelled to hibernate for 3 months. Partial hibernation is possible, but in order to stay healthy, some form of dormancy must take place every 7 months. Most cultures have explanations and rules for hibernation.
First contact for the Jiettja was a strange and fearful affair, one that thankfully ended peacefully. The Jiettja first came into contact with a flyer that crash landed on their planet. The flyer was unable to find a proper communication channel for a bit, but when they did, things worked out.
Jiettja possess horn-like structures on their backs and heads. At the base of these structures, there are special glands that produce a slow burning flame when ignited. This evolved as a mating display. Flames are very hard to produce when sick or tired, so in ancient times this was a good indication of the health of a potential mate. In modern times, these flames can be a good offensive option in a pinch. Theyre also just pretty, and pose minimal danger to Jiettja themselves, for their fur has a fire proof chemical within it. But many young Jiettja have burned down things in their haste to master this ability.

Hailing from the Hovarav asteroid belt, Flyers are robust and incredibly adaptable, for they dont need to breathe air, and are crystal-based lifeforms. They can come in any color of the rainbow. They feed on radiation, and evolved from sessile space organisms.
Flyers and Secleal were the first contact each species had with other sophonts. Flyers didnt understand that Secleal were intelligent beings at first, but were very curious nontheless. In face, in the beginning, most flyers thought Secleal space ships were more intelligent than the secleal themselves.
Flyers have a complex lifecycle. The first stage is the spore stage. From that spore, the second stage comes next, the pebble stage. At this stage, Flyers are still not cognizant of themselves. They often sit dormant for years, if not decades. This stage transitions into the third stage when these pebbles recieve enough radiation. The third stage is the most social, and it is where Flyers devolp their sense of self, their color and their telekentic abilities. They slowly get the ability to move psychically, typically by hovering, but once their tendrils grow out, they also can use those.
The next stage occurs after hundreds of years, as Flyers age, they get steadily bigger and bigger. Eventually, they will get so large that moving becomes inconvenient. When this happens, they will typically be about the size of a 2 story building. In this stage, they will find a place in the void of space to settle down, and will continue to grow from there. This is when reproduction occurs. Flyers will produce spores that can grow into new flyers as long as they live. Many Flyers at this stage construct small structures on their bodies for younger Flyers to rest in. And they will continue to grow. The oldest flyers are the size of small moons and dwarf planets.

Originating from all over the universe, SAIs have evolved convergently many times. It is difficult to point to one origin for them, as they simply do not have one single origin.
Most cultures are surprised or caught off guard in some way when encountering SAIs for the first time. Their emergence in new locations is often sudden and disorienting. A familiar story: One day a certain population of machines become people overnight. Nobody is sure why this happens, but some theorize it might be a similar happening to how Zyxian Gods work, but instead of being powered by worship, they are powered by something else, or atleast are animated by it. It could be many things. Love, usefulness, fear, or the simple belief that they are alive makes them alive. Nobody is sure.

Hailing from the planet Wotrateon, Yigdrisine have a curious sense of identity. They are born with six bodies, and can merge with other Yigdrisine to create even larger hiveminds. Their sense of identity is very fluid as a result. For the most part, they dont strive for stability in this area the slightest, prefering to focus on other goals.
First contact for the Yigdrisine was confusing, at first they couldnt understand how other species didnt have several bodies. They couldnt comprehend the stable personalities other sophonts had, it was viewed as creepy and weird to stay mostly the same a majority of one's life.
